Genesis Transitional Housing Ministries

Building Bridges is the brainchild of Genesis Transitional Housing Ministries Incorporated -- a value faith-based program based in Queens, New York. Their main mission is to provide services for substance abuse users, ex-offenders and homeless men and women. Their goals are to provide them with safe drug free transitional housing; to stabilize employment; to provide them with easy access to ongoing treatment and support; to help them become self-sufficient so that they can start a new life; and to help them fight their struggle with addiction and break the cycle of substance abuse

Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica

Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica (NHS) is a not for profit community-based corporation that is committed to revitalizing neighborhoods in southern Queens by offering counseling, technical and financial assistance to low and moderate-income residents. NHS enables residents to upgrade and preserve their properties to improve the quality of community life.

New York State Division of Housing & Community Renewal - District Rent Office

The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal is responsible for the supervision, maintenance and development of affordable low- and moderate-income housing in New York State. The Division performs a number of activities in fulfillment of this mission, including:

Community Development - Administration of housing development and community preservation programs, including State and Federal grants and loans to housing developers to partially finance construction or renovation of affordable housing;

Housing Operations - Oversite and regulation of the State's public and publicly assisted rental housing; and,

Rent Administration - Administration of the rent regulation process for more than one million rent-regulated apartments in both New York City, and those localities in the counties of Albany, Erie, Nassau, Rockland, Schenectady, Rensselaer and Westchester subject to rent laws.

The Queens Borough and District Rent Office provides information and assistance to tenants and owners of rent controlled and rent stabilized apartments. Tenants can request registered rent histories of their apartment as well as information about cases that may affect their rent. In addition, they can access fact sheets and forms on many topics including rent overcharges, leases, services and security deposits. Owners can request registered rent rolls for the building, case information and related copies of orders. They can also receive technical assistance in completing rent registration forms and applications pertaining to major capital improvements, rent restoration, and Rent Control- fuel and MBR reports.
