Strong communities provide multiple means by which information can be disseminated in and throughout them. Increasingly
key to this information dissemination mix, is the internet. You're experiencing Phase 1 of a web based means by which information
can be disseminated in and throughout a set of southeast Queens neighborhoods known collectively as Jamaica - Community Boards
12 and 13.
Phase 1 of Jamaica311 is a relatively static web site that features information
and resources particularly useful to those living in or near Jamaica. Free events and activities are at the core of Jamaica311's
Phase 1; intra-community resources round out the site's offering. Where relevant, extra-community resources are featured as
well.
Phase 2 of Jamaica311 will be an upgraded web site that will provide the opportunity for non-profit
institutions located within, or serving, Jamaica, to post activities directly to the events page. The Phase 2 rollout will
also feature user registration, and allow registered users to comment on community happenings via a blog technology solution.
